Jewellery Concierge, An Explanation

Hello everyone!

Can you believe that summer is over and we are already into September? For those of you who stayed in Qatar, you survived! I know that it is not easy as I have stayed three times but I must say I do love the quietness of Doha during July and the beginning of August. For those of you who travelled, I hope the change of scenery was invigorating and relaxing.

With the lazy days of summer gone, now is the perfect time to explain how I can help out with your gemstone and jewellery needs; what as a jewellery concierge I can do for you!

With such an exhaustive amount of information being online,  it can be beneficial as well as overwhelming. You can easily google the 4Cs of diamonds and find the grading certificate but what does that all mean? How can you put that information together?

Let’s say you are looking at a couple of diamond certificates, you see on one the colour grade is a F and on another it is an H. You know that D is a colourless diamond but what is the difference between F and H? Could you even tell the difference between the two? This is a one way I am able to guide you in purchasing the best stone for within your budget.

Just as there is an immense about of information about gemstones (and particularly diamonds online) the same is true, if not more, about jewellery. With the multitude of social media platforms we can access, inspirations for pieces of jewellery are endless. Just as I can help you put the puzzle together for buying a gemstone, I guide your through the process of turning your inspiration into a beautiful piece of jewellery.  I will be your liaison with the jewellers, to not only guide you but them as well for your piece. In the end, you have something that has been created just for you or whoever the lucky person is that is receiving your gift.

So you have now picked out your diamond, perfect! Onto the next set of how you want to wear that gorgeous gemstone. Do you want it as a pendant? Or a ring? Maybe showcase it in a bracelet? Depending on your lifestyle, each has positives and negatives. We will pinpoint the best setting that fits not only your personal style, and budget but one that is suitable for when and how you want to where it. This is important as certain settings will offer more protection while others are perfect for items that are only worn on special occasions. These are all details to consider when designing and buying jewellery.

Moreover, jewellery often has sentimental value and you may not want to completely change the setting on it but you need an update or a repair, we will say. It would be my pleasure to aid you in making the special piece even more loved. A perfect example is this lovely sapphire engagement ring above. As you can see the table facet on the top of the stone was scratched. On the side, the shoulder of the band was broken as well. After a little TLC, the stone was polished, the setting repaired and a couple of diamonds added. It is now a “100% stop you in the street, ask you where you got it, gush over it” ring!

Assisting you in purchasing gemstones and jewellery are the predominant aspects of being a jewellery concierge. Another facet (yes I said it) is being able to provide information about the industry. I love sharing my knowledge and am available to talk with you in a one-on-one setting or to a group about a topic of your choosing. It can be as formal or informal as you would like, the choice is up to you. Whether that be explaining how you could tell the difference between lab-created diamonds and mined diamonds or the history of pearl diving in Qatar, I am available.
